I have to comment on the bottled oxygen experiment. While I can see how injecting bottled oxygen could drastically increase horsepower, I will also say that I sincerely doubt the engine was running on 100% oxygen and fuel with no air coming in; even a 3hp lawnmower engine with the throttle blade open would drain that bottle in a matter of seconds (maybe less). Was the test done with the throttle completely closed and the engine still produced such power? How was the fuel metered in that experiment?

I'm willing to bet that bottled oxygen was added to the engine and the fuel was "richened" to take advantage of the added oxygen (though technically if it was done right it would still be running at or near stoich) much like nitrous is added today.

There's so much to talk about here, and since my laptop died I have been stuck with using a public library computor to do all my chores, maximum one hour. So I think I better get back here in 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, when my repaired laptop is supposed to be back in my hands and I have more time to think.

Meanwhile, IF I can locate that HRM article, which I imagine I still have, somewhere, I'll tell you about it, Pinhead. Meanwhile, Mike, which is your pick of the various sites covering Brown's Gas experiments as the most educational and most likely to help me "get it"? #-o
