I've just added some boric acid powder to my car's rear wheel bearings. Hope they don't grind away to ruin!

For information, a while ago I drained the oil from both the transfer case and rear diff, to which I'd previously added boric acid, and there was no sign of white powder in the oil. So I presume the gears really did break it down.

Was there any abrasive wear on the gears? Is it afe to just add the powder into the rear diff and drive?

I had the hypoid gear out of the transfer case and it looked fine to me. Also had the rear diff out of the casing and, again, all looks OK. It also drove with no ill signs for thousands of miles before I dismantled the bits.
I now have a little boric acid in the rear wheel bearings and nothing bad has happened.

Still no problems with adding the powder to grease?

I sold the Nissan that I'd added the boric acid to, In January and it was going strong with no ill effects that I could see.
