Hybrids have no future?

I once heard experienced auto repair college instructor said that hybrids have no future that in future we will have smaller (about twice as small) more advanced more powerful and more economical engines because so far he had not seen toyota or honda investing money into hybrid trained technichians.

Well, Euro diesels get better mileage and cleaner emissions. Ford even has a 62mpg 5 seater but they are not bringing it in to the US because the market will not pay what they would need to sell it at. So they say.

100mpg Hybrids. http://www.physorg.com/news140271245.html

They COULD make big $ building SUVs with lotsa features...before reality intervened. Instead of subsidizing oil companies and the military in order to get more oil...maybe we could subsidize alternative energy sources and technologies? Start refining some decent gas and diesel?

But that's harder than putting more lipstick on a pig?
