HHO Generator Overheat
Why is there so much heat produced, such that it melts the lid and also creates steam?
Conditions: HHO Generator glass container with a plastic lid. - stainless bolts through the top of the lid with rubber gromets - 2 stainless wall plates for the electrolisis process (gap approximately 2mm) gap provided by nylon washers, held together by nylon bolts and nut - currently using stainless wire to connect from the bolts to the plates - current provided by either a battery charger or a 12v car battery (basically using jumper cables) - Distilled water with baking soda (I've used anywhere from 1/4 teaspoon to as much as 5 teaspoons with the same results)
Results: Good HHO generation, but... - plastic lid melts within 5 minutes - starts out pulling about 10 amps and jumps to about 80 amps! Yeah... don't touch that lead! - water gets hot and starts to produce some steam
Diagnosis? - I can't find any shorts - I need your help!
It looks so easy on all of the different websites, but I'm obviously doing something very basic, wrong. Can you help?
